Editor Modes

The Editor Mode decides what will be edited and which editor features are active.

When you switch the Editor Mode, the layout of the whole editor changes, including menus, viewports and panels, which keeps what you are working on organized and in focus.

Each editor mode has its own features, keyboard shortcuts, commands and tools.

Navigation Mode turns the editor into a viewer for the project. The tools, the mesh editors and the property inspector leave the screen, and the perspective view fills the whole viewport. It works in geometry editing and in the artboard: the other modes move to the More modes menu, and picking one of them turns navigation off.

  • Dragging with the left button orbits the view, the middle button pans and the wheel zooms.
  • W, A, S and D move the camera without holding any button, Q and E go down and up, and Shift speeds up.
  • Double clicking an object takes the camera to the clicked point, which becomes the center of rotation.
  • Esc leaves the mode.
