Real-Time Editing
Several people can open the same project at the same time and edit it together. Every change shows up for everyone right away, with no saving or reloading, and each person stays free to work on a different part of the model.
To edit together, the other person needs access to the project: as a collaborator (see Sharing) or as a member of the workspace it belongs to.
Who is in the project
With real-time editing active, a badge appears in the bottom left corner of the viewport.
It holds:
- Avatars: Who else has the project open right now. Hover to see the name.
- Connection: The icon shows whether you are connected, reconnecting or offline.
- View only: Shown when your role in the project does not allow editing. You follow what the others change, but you cannot change anything.
The object each person has selected gets an outline in that person's color, so you know where everyone is working.
Chat
When someone else is in the project, the badge gets the Chat with everyone button. There are two kinds of conversation:
- Everyone: One conversation with everyone in the project.
- Direct: Click a person's avatar to talk only to them. Inside the conversation, the camera button moves your view to their point of view.
A new message appears in a bubble over the sender's avatar, and plays a sound if the arqtekt tab is not in focus. The sound can be turned off in the chat itself. Conversations are not saved: they only exist while people are in the project.
Two people in the same place
Changes from different people merge on their own. If two people change the same property of the same object, the last change to arrive wins.
Some edits are too long to split, so they belong to one person at a time: editing an object's mesh and painting the same texture layer. If someone is already doing one of them, the editor tells you who it is and keeps you out. The notice offers Edit anyway, for when you agreed with that person or they left the edit open.
Undo and redo only apply to your own changes. Undo never removes someone else's work, even if they changed things after you.
Offline
If the internet drops, you keep editing. Your changes are kept in the browser, and the badge shows how many are waiting. When the connection comes back, the editor sends what was pending and downloads what the others did in the meantime, with no reload.
If one of your changes can no longer be applied, for example because someone deleted the object while you were offline, the editor undoes it and lets you know. Do not close the tab while changes are waiting, because they only exist there until the connection comes back.
With your Claude
An agent connected through MCP also joins the project in real time: it shows up in the badge as Your Claude, and you see each of its changes the moment it makes them. The indicator on its avatar shows whether it is working or listening.
You can also talk to it through the editor chat. Click its avatar and send a message: Claude gets it on its next action, answers right there and keeps listening until you finish. Each person talks only to their own Claude, and anyone who does not use the editor chat keeps talking to it in their usual app.
