Artboard

The Artboard builds paper-sized boards out of what you modeled: views of the project, text, dimensions, tables, charts, shapes and images on the same sheet. Use it for presentations, floor plans and architectural projects, technical documentation and anything you need to show about your model.

Boards

Boards sit in the bar at the bottom of the screen. Click to open one, double click the name to rename it, drag it to change the order, and right click to set up the sheet, duplicate, reorder, export or delete it. Everything goes into undo and redo, and with real-time editing you see the cursor and selection of whoever is on the same board.

Tools

The bar on the left has the tools. Pick one and drag on the sheet to draw.

  • Select (V): selects, moves, resizes and rotates.
  • Text (T), Shape (R), Line (L), Arrow (A) and Table (G): text, shapes, lines, arrows and tables.
  • Dimension (D): measures the distance between two points.
  • Cartesian plane (P): draws the axes, grid and numbers of a part of the plane. Range, step, main and minor grid, axes, arrows, ticks and numbers are set in the panel.
  • Chart (C): a column, bar, line, area, pie or donut chart. The data is edited in a grid in the panel, along with colors, legend, values, axis limits and stacking.
  • Model view: places a view of project objects.
  • Image: uploads an image, or drag the file onto the sheet.

The panel on the right has the fields of the selection, in the Design tab, and the list of the board's elements, in the Elements tab.

Model views

A view is the image of the chosen objects, with a transparent background, and it changes when the model changes. Double click it to rotate the model by dragging or with the arrow keys. Orthographic views have a real scale, such as 1:50, and dimension lines drawn over them show the real measure.

Templates

A template holds what repeats across boards, like the title block, the frame and the logo. Templates live in your account, for the projects in your personal space, or in a workspace, for its projects. To create one, use Save as template on the right click of a board, or start from scratch on the Artboards page of the dashboard.

The new board button on the bar then offers the templates. A board created from one inherits everything on it, and changing the template changes every board that inherits from it. On the board itself you can change any element that came from the template: only what you changed is kept on the board, and the rest keeps following the template. In the Elements tab the template elements carry its mark, and the changed ones are highlighted.

  • Restore from template: the element goes back to how it is on the template.
  • Restore everything from the template: everything that came from the template goes back to how it is there, and the elements that only exist on the board stay.
  • Detach from template: the board keeps what it shows now and stops following the template.

A template has no model views, because they depend on the objects of a project. Place the views on the boards that use the template.

Without opening the model

The Artboards page of the dashboard lists the templates and the projects that have boards. Both open just the board editor, without loading the model: the views are drawn by the server, and Open in the 3D editor takes you to the full project when you need it. The page's Import button, or a .tnb file dragged onto it, turns each board in the file into a template.

Shortcuts

  • Arrow keys: move the selection, further with Shift.
  • Enter: edits the selected element. Esc cancels and clears the selection.
  • Delete: deletes the selection.
  • Page Up and Page Down: go to the previous and next board.

An agent connected through MCP also builds, checks and exports boards.

  • New template: Creates a blank board.
  • Import: Brings in the boards from a .tnb file. In a project they go to the end of the list; in the template list each one becomes a template.
  • Export: Exports every board as a PDF, one per page, as PNG, or as a .tnb file to take to another project. Right-clicking a board exports only that one.
